La Tranche sur Mer, overlooking the Ile de Ré, offers 13 km of fine sandy beaches, 9 km of which face entirely south-facing.

To share its wealth of opportunities more widely, the Vendée offers a major network of cycling paths over 500 km. A number of trails weave in and out from the coast to the Poitevin Marshes across the woodlands. A guide is provided at the Tourist Office. To bolster the efforts conducted by the département, the commune has committed itself to an 8 – 10 year cycling route plan, which saw the completion of its first major project between the Terrière district and the village centre, over a distance of 1300m.
